Beverly Coalition for Donated Fruits for the Needy
Donated fruit is a wonderful way to help the needy in these hard economic times. Fruit is a nutritious part of person's diet and the Los Angeles Mission, the Union Mission and the St. Vincent de Paul Center, all of which are located in downtown Los Angeles, will be recipients of the donated fruit.
Parishioners of Good Shepherd Church can pick fruit from their own trees and drop the fruit off at the church on Sundays when they come to mass. The charities will receive the donated fruit on Mondays.
If donors would like their fruit picked they should contact Josephine Rescigno at her website, listed below. Volunteers from the PTA at Beverly Hills El Rodeo School and student volunteers from Beverly Hills High School are being recruited, as well as Josephine's neighbors, to help with the fruit picking. If you are willing to have student volunteers pick the fruit on your property the students will be accompanied by two or three adult volunteers to make sure the picking is done in a quiet and respectful manner.
