The Advent and Christmas seasons always bring more visitors to Good Shepherd. To alleviate traffic, please remember the alternate parking possibilities in the parking structures on the South side of Santa Monica Blvd., as well as street parking along Roxbury and Bedford. Did you know that the Good Shepherd Parking lot has only twenty-six parking spaces, and two of which are for autos with placards for the disabled?Below is the Beverly Hills website for parking services, please peruse it at your leisure.

Cantribution Weekend

This weekend, December 5 – 6 is Cantribution Weekend. Please bring your bag of non-perishable canned goods to help those in need. If you forgot, please bring a bag of goods during the week to the Parish Office. Let’s break our goal of 100 bags!

Dear Parish Family,

Thank you for your outstanding donation of food for St. Joseph Center. In giving, we receive, and you gave bags and bags of non-perishable food! It was astounding to see your generosity and many of you gave monetary donations too, and very generously.
May God bless all of you abundantly.

Wonderful Opportunity For Catholic Non-Eucharistic Liturgy Of Prayer

On Sunday, December 13, we will have Compline (Night Prayer) at 7:30 p.m. in the church. Compline is part of the official daily Prayer of the Church, and the concluding liturgy of the day. It involves a mix of chant in Latin by a schola (choir) with the assembly chanting in English. This is a contemplative unaccompanied liturgy in which we sing hymns, psalms, and other parts of the liturgy. Compline takes less than 30 minutes. If you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful way to end Sunday and begin your week, come join in this experience!

Our Parish Giving Tree

We invite you to take an ornament off one of the trees found either in the vestibule or patio side door. Your gift of love will be given to our sister parish St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Please wrap your present and label it well. Kindly bring your gifts to the Parish Office during the week. All gifts need to be in by December 18. Our sister parish, St. Thomas The Apostle, has a number of families that are in extra need of assistance during the holidays. These families are looking for clothing, food items or food certificates. If you are able to assist with any kind of donation, please call the church office (310) 285-5425. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

Donation Envelopes

In order to be good stewards of parish resources, we are always looking for ways to reduce expenses. We determined that we could reduce our printing and mailing costs by not sending donation envelopes to parishioners who had not utilized them over the previous 12 months. In addition, delivery of donation envelopes have been stopped for those of you who are taking advantage of our online giving program: Faith Direct. As a result, we expect to save approximately $8,000 this fiscal year. That’s the good news. However, some parishioners have asked why they are no longer receiving envelopes. We certainly want to provide envelopes to parishioners if they want to use them, so please let us know. Just use one of the supplemental envelopes in the pew and indicate that you would like to receive regular envelopes in the mail. If you have any questions, please contact David in the parish office at (310) 285-5425, or by email at

We meet on the first Saturday of each month in the Parish Center from 10 – 11:30 a.m. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the church office at (310) 285-5425 and leave a message for Cheryl Wunsch.
